Why Early Access?

“Potion Tycoon is conceived as a deep and fairly complex fantasy shop management game with plenty of elaborate elements and moving parts, artfully bound together under the hood to create an easily grabbing, yet enjoyably detailed and long-lasting playing experience like no other.

It’s an ambitious goal that is indeed hard to achieve. And we’ve already laid down a solid groundwork for Potion Tycoon to become an excellent game one day. But now, looking at the core we’ve built, we can see multiple routes that can lead to that destination. We believe that the choices to be made at the next stages of development, however minor they might seem, can eventually make a significant difference and shape Potion Tycoon into a remarkably different dish to relish. Therefore, we feel that involving the gamers’ community into paving Potion Tycoon’s unique path to completion (and ultimate glory) is one truly right step to take next.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our goal is to have the game in Early Access for approximately one year. This timeframe may eventually be slightly longer or substantially shorter, depending on the feedback we receive from the community and how we feel about approaching the finish line.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of the game will feature a great deal of various extra content, with more quests, world events, random encounters, production techniques, customer factions, business strategies and ways to play towards the ultimate success. Those will be added to Potion Tycoon during the Early Access phase based on our EA development roadmap and, importantly, the input we’ll receive from the players.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of Potion Tycoon contains a solid experience with a solid amount of content and gameplay. In the EA launch version of the game, you can lead your humble shop to the heights of potion business, constantly designing and brewing new potions, expanding your production, promoting your crew and facing the never-ending stream of various challenges while managing your store.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Probably. We will evaluate the pricing regularly as the game gains features, expands in scope and moves to beta and then final release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We are looking forward to receiving all sorts of feedback from the Community, including both general thoughts and specific suggestions regarding new and desired features and balancing updates. To collect this feedback in a convenient and timely manner, we plan to use the Steam discussion forums as well as our dedicated Discord server. The information on any update or patch that we release will be made fully transparent and include patch notes so the Community can follow the progress of Potion Tycoon development at all times.”
