What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We are a three-person development team, and KitHack is a very big project.

Manpower is our most precious and limited resource. At any given time, there’s an infinite number of things we could be focusing on. We need help from our players now, to make sure we are making the best of our available time and effort.

Should we add more parts? New Missions? Do we expand the map, or focus on Multiplayer features? The array of possibilities is vast, so an Early Access Community is essential to ensure that we are putting our very limited manpower towards the best possible use every day.

Our intention has always been for the game to really be a platform, which developers and community creators can build on for a very long time. The foundations for KitHack are already very stable, and we feel that all the essentials are in place for this next phase, where we can put all our efforts into making meaningful updates with the help of our community.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are expecting KitHack Model Club to be in Early Access until August 2024.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“During Early Access we want to work as closely as possible with the Community to decide on what we should put into the game next. By the 1.0 release, we plan to explore a variety of QOL updates to improve the experience, alternate vehicle parts, additional missions, expanded control systems and more, all while taking suggestions from you.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is eminently playable now, with weekly multiplayer playtests taking place where we build vehicles from scratch and tackle the game’s multiplayer missions. While there is the occasional gremlin, the overall experience is very smooth and stable.

The in-game scenario editor tool is also included and fully functional. It is, however, more of a work in progress than most other areas of the game.

Needless to say, you should be ready to encounter the occasional bug or missing feature here and there. If you do, all we ask is that you let us know directly. We can always be reached through the official Discord, and we’re always willing to listen to your feedback and offer help.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No, the price will remain the same.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“An Early Access launch will open the ability for players to help carve out the path of the game as we look ahead to a 1.0 release. During this time, our goal is to create a friendly and reactive environment where you, the community, can inform us on the most important improvements and iterations you'd like to see. You’ll be able to find more about how this will work, the scheduled progression of the game and the road to 1.0 in the Content Roadmap section below.

With that being said, we would love for the community to join our Discord channel, share their playing experience and provide their feedback on what is going well and what needs our attention. They should also cast their vote for what features we should be adding before we reach 1.0 when we launch future content polls.

We also encourage everyone to tweak and tinker with the game itself. KitHack was designed from the very start to be as open to modding as we could make it, and we are really excited to see what the community comes up with. Feel free to come talk to us over on Discord about anything related to modding.

Please see our content roadmap below to see where the Community will be able to contribute:

  • Phase #1 - Launch into Early Access
  • Phase #2 - Bug fixing and QOL updates
  • Phase #3 - Community priority features (We will put up a poll asking players to help us prioritize which features we should focus on ahead of 1.0 - ranging from parts and missions to multiplayer and optimization).
  • Phase #4 - August 1.0 launch

About This Game

Welcome to KitHack Model Club! From the creator of the original Kerbal Space Program and a tiny team of just three dedicated developers. KitHack Model Club combines state-of-the-art physics with endless customization options that will see you and your friends bringing your wildest RC creations to life.

With the opportunity for limitless adventure and built from the ground up for multiplayer, KitHack Model Club is the ultimate model-building platform.

Be it a plane, boat, car, or an ingenious hybrid of all three, you can construct anything you can imagine by simply attaching parts together in the Vehicle Editor. Give it wings, wheels, engines, rockets, paintball guns and more; then really make it your own by adding paint and decals.

And your every design decision counts! Even the slightest tweaks you make on your vehicle will influence how it handles, as the simulation takes its actual geometry into account for aerodynamics, buoyancy, wheel friction and everything else.

Show off your creation by taking it into multiplayer matches with up to 16 players, or share it on the Steam Workshop, to join an ever-growing collection of player made vehicles.

Explore the diverse and colorful landscapes of beautiful Wirraway Bay. Test your mettle with challenges, or free roam with friends across the island with your unique creations. The ideal environment in which to perfect your craft awaits the adventurous modeler. Just watch out for traffic and pedestrians!

Play KitHack Model Club exactly how you want to play. Craft your own missions and challenges with the powerful Scenario Editor - a fully-featured gameplay authoring tool which gives you complete control to create your own game modes. In fact, this is the same tool the developers themselves use to create missions.

Challenge community members and flaunt your ingenuity by publishing your missions on the Steam Workshop, or just explore the limitless gameplay possibilities from the community-made collection.

KitHack Model Club was built from the ground up to support modding. You can add custom content including new parts, maps, and even entire new features, then share it with the community via the Steam Workshop.

To help you get you started, we’ve got an SDK package including tools and examples, plus an amazingly friendly community where you can chat with other players, creators and even the developers themselves.

Have fun out there, KitHacker.
